Who we are
Tom Monaghan, Class A PGA of Canada – President, Monaghan Golf Inc.
With over fifteen years experience in the golf industry, Tom Monaghan began his career at Jasper Park Lodge (AB) as a member of the maintenance team and currently holds the position of Head Professional at Fraserview Golf Course in Vancouver (BC). During these years he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, and attended the San Diego Golf Academy’s Orlando, Florida campus, graduating with honors with his Associates Degree in Golf Complex Operations Management. He obtained his CPGA status in 2001 and in 2004 was awarded the CPGA Tex Noble Award for the highest Class A examination mark in Canada.
Tom has worked at a number of respected private, semi-private and municipal golf courses in Vancouver, such as Langara Golf Course, Capilano Golf & Country Club, Richmond Country Club, Vancouver Golf Club and Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club. In 2006 he and two partners founded a luxury golf travel business called “The Next Golf Adventure” based in Vancouver and had been instrumental in every aspect of branding, marketing, sales, operations and administration of the company since inception. In 2009 Tom’s company Monaghan Golf Inc. was awarded a nine year contract to provide golf Professional services at Fraserview Golf Course.
Tom currently sits on the Advisory Board of the National Golf Course Owners Association, the Board of the First Tee of Greater Vancouver, the Board of Directors of the PGA of British Columbia and the Board of Directors of the Canadian PGA. He is also on the advisory panel of Score Golf’s Top 100 Golf Courses.
James Presnail, Class A PGA of Canada
James brings almost a decade of experience to the Monaghan Golf Inc. team. In 2003 he entered Humber College’s Professional Golf Management (PGM) program in Toronto. In 2005 he relocated to Victoria, BC and continued his PGM studies at Camosun College. James’s career has evolved at a number of fine golf courses, including Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto, Royal Colwood Golf Club, Victoria, Nanaimo Golf &Country Club on Vancouver Island and Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club in Vancouver. He is currently Director of Instruction and Golf Operations Manager at Fraserview Golf Course. James is also Head Coach of The First Tee of Greater Vancouver.
Alex Doucette, CFM
Alex brings a passion for the golf business to Monaghan Golf Inc. His background has centered on public golf facilities with employment at Musqueam Golf and Learning Academy; he is presently Golf Shop Supervisor at Fraserview Golf Course. Alex’s leadership style has allowed Monaghan Golf Inc. to retain employees year after year and his training ability has helped the company set the bar for customer service at a very high level.
CK Golf Solutions Ltd.
CK Golf Solutions works with the team at Monaghan Golf on much of our sales and marketing needs including website updates, social media training, print materials and promotional campaigns. CK Golf Solutions has been working with golf industry and non-profit clients for the past four years. With 17 plus years of golf industry experience they also provide business planning, human resources, operations and sales services in addition to marketing and social media expertise.
